London Gatwick Airport (LGW)
Travel and Ground Transport

(London, England)

Although often considered to be London's number two airport after Heathrow, Gatwick Airport (LGW) provides plenty to choose from when it comes to ground transport and travel options.

Buses, taxis and trains serve not only London, but also surrounding towns and suburbs such as Crawley, Croydon, East Grinstead, Epsom, Kingston upon Thames, Royal Tunbridge Wells and Sutton.

Train Service

Located close to the South terminal of LGW is the Gatwick railway station. This station is also just a few minutes from the North terminal by a transit train service, and is accessible by escalators and lifts. There are numerous daily services connecting with central London, serving Victoria and Kings Cross stations, and to many districts further afield. The fastest of these services is the Gatwick Express, which links with Victoria Station in around 30 minutes. There are direct services to other areas including Luton, Reading, Brighton, and Southampton, and connections with the rest of the country.

Coaches and Travel by Buses

Coach operators from the airport, such as Speedlink, provide a service between Gatwick and Heathrow Airport. There is also transportation to Victoria Bus station, while National Express coaches travel to and from destinations throughout the country. Most departures are from the South Terminal, although some also call at the North terminal.

Coaches and Travel by Coach

Coach services available at London Gatwick connect in excess of 40 different towns and cities throughout the United Kingdom, including Brighton, Birmingham, Liverpool and Newcastle, as well as the famous university cities of Oxford and Cambridge. National Express is the main provider, with its ticket desks being situated within the North Terminal and the South Terminal.

Taxi Cabs

Airport Cars, in the arrivals area of the North Terminal and the northern entrance of the South Terminal, arrange the taxi services and bookings. The journey from Gatwick into central London will take around 60 to 70 minutes, although be sure to allow longer when travelling at peak times. Do note that an additional congestion fee may be charged if your final destination lies within the actual charging zone.

Limousines

Limousines can be leased at an hourly rate if required, although minimum charges may apply. The limos can be booked in advance or simply arranged at the Ground Transportation Information counters.
